This week (13-19 March 2017) is Nutrition and Hydration Week, which aims to highlight, promote and celebrate improvements in the provision of nutrition and hydration locally, nationally and globally.
As part of the week the Malnutrition Task Force is trying to raise awareness of the potential implications of unintentional weight loss. Research they have carried out has found that 36% of people aged 60 and over think it is perfectly normal to lose weight as you get older. With one in ten people over 65 thought to be malnourished or at risk of malnutrition the warning signs and symptoms, such as unintentional weight loss, are often missed.
