NHS England has launched new guidance - 'Commissioning Excellent Nutrition and Hydration 2015-2018' - which is designed to support commissioners to improve the nutritional and hydration needs of their population.
The guidance outlines why commissioners should make nutrition and hydration a priority and gives advice on how to tackle the problem and to assess the impact on commissioned services. It includes examples of how commissioners have begun to tackle the problem via commissioning and outlines further resources to help commissioners address the issue, including the 'Managing Adult Malnutrition in the Community' materials via www.malnutritionpathway.co.uk. It has been produced in collaboration with commissioners and national organisations.
A copy of the guide can be found at this link.
